The World Needs Riddim is part of the World C.U.P. series, the first installment of which was the Standing Firm Riddim that sparked the fire to this movement. The World C.U.P. aims to bridge the gaps between social classes, races, nations and continents while providing an optimistic approach to improving our ways of life. The intention with this project is to bring a new perspective to a global society in need of a positive outlook.
World Needs Riddim compilation features reggae artists in duets and in solo performances. The lead track, "Cool and Humble" is performed by Sick Donkey recording artist, Essential I from Washington State, he is joined by The Lambsbread, a male-female vocal duo based in Hawaii. Lutan Fyah from Jamaica makes waves as a tireless recording artist and his song "Changes" is part of on the World Needs set. Also from Washington and the Sick Donkey Records label, Jahson Ites joins forces with veteran Rocker T (Jah Warrior Hi-Fi, Skadanks) of Brooklyn on "Let It Be Known".
As part of the next generation, Junior Toots, son of the legendary Toots Hibbert (Toots and the Maytals) is now forging his own career path and teams up with Northern California artist Ishi Dube on "Mountain of Jah". Seattle's own Adrian Xavier expresses his healing vision for the world with "In My Dreams". From Humboldt County in Northern California, Jah Sun teams up with Jamaica's Chezidek on "Stronger" for a musical remedy that is the title track from Jah Sun's sophmore album. From Sweden, with both Swedish and Ethiopian heritage Hailee Araya comes with a minor key vibrato that echoes traditional Ethiopian music for "Found A Way". The set’s backbone, the World Needs Riddim (Instrumental Version), is a straight one-drop type tempo with lush effects, moody delays and the distinct vintage reggae sound of minor key melodica punctuating the track.
